Tatiana Was Born in 1985
Tatiana Maslany was born to her parents Dan Maslany and Renate (née Kratz) Maslany on the 22nd of September 1985. She was raised in Regina.
She is a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, and has Austrian, German, Romanian, Polish, and Ukrainian ancestry.
Her father Dan is a woodworker and a cabinetmaker, per The Globe and Mail. Her mother Renate works as a French–English translator and interpreter, and per her LinkedIn profile, she is a translator at Farm Credit Canada.
The actress was raised in French immersion while her mom taught her German before she learned English. Furthermore, she got surrounded by grandparents who spoke German. She can also speak a little Spanish.
Maslany began dancing at four and started her professional career at nine. Although her mother and father wanted her to follow a career in journalism or some other concrete, she revealed they remained supportive of her decision during her interview with Anthem Magazine in 2013.
The elder Maslanys have witnessed their daughter blossom from a child actor to an actress in demand. They feel amazed by her success. Their daughter graduated from Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School in 2003 and traveled all over Canada paying acting jobs during her high school career with their approval.
She then enrolled at the University of Regina to study German, Ancient Greek, philosophy, psychology, and film but dropped out after half a semester.
