TV producer Marcia Carsey and her husband John Carsey donated $1,870,000 to the Carsey Family Foundation, a foundation that the couple started to raise media awareness and to nurture talents. In addition to the donation, several grants were forwarded for example the $50k to Progressive Talent Initiative, $100k to Institute for America’s Future and another $250k grant to Media Matters for America.

MLB player Lance Berkman and wife Cara established a foundation called The Lord’s Fund and they donated $2,412,245 to it. Grants by the foundation included $113k to Children’s Cup, a Christian organization focusing on forgotten children in Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Mozambique. Another grant was mad e to Josiah Venture, a Christian youth movement in Eastern Europe.
