USA World Cup Captain Tyler Adams Parents, He Was Raised By Single Mother Melissa Russo Until Age 13

USA World Cup Captain Tyler Adams was raised by his parents, Melissa Russo and Darryl Sullivan. His stepfather and his mother met when he was 13.

Tyler has three younger siblings from his stepdad’s side. The Leeds United soccer player was raised by a single mother until Darryl Sr came into their life.

Tyler met his brother Darryl Jr first before he met his father as they were classmates, and both had loved soccer since a young age. They became aware of their parents talking soon after becoming friends and were happy about it.

One day the elder Sullivan called Adam and his mom to dinner at his house. The younger Darryl introduced him to his brothers, and they have now become a happy family growing old together. The soccer player went from having a family of two to six in a matter of time.

Who Are Tyler Adams Parents?

Tyler Adams was born to his beloved mother, Melissa Russo, and an absent father on the 14th of February 1999 in Wappinger, New York. He had a father figure after his mother introduced Darryl Sullivan Sr.

Melissa had her son when she was 22, and her partner wasn’t around. The mother-son duo lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, and didn’t have much, nor were they poor.

The young mom sacrificed a lot for her child; she took a break from her school after giving birth to Adam and returned when the little one was in second grade to pursue her dream.

Tyler always followed his mom around and witnessed her working hard. Russo would go from having a full-time job to studying at the library so that she could graduate with good grades. They had a rollercoaster ride until meeting Darryl.

The athlete always looks up to his mama and is grateful for having her in his life. She did everything to get her son to the Red Bulls Academy, drove him in her dark grey Toyota Corolla, and made the 150-mile round trip to the practice facility in Whippany, New Jersey. Without her and their new family, the soccer player wouldn’t have reached this far.

The athlete would kick a ball around the house, break a lamp, and always blame it on the youngest, Donovan, even if it wasn’t him. Likewise, Melissa often yelled at the top of her lungs for them to chill out while they had heated 2-v-2 FIFA sessions.

They would also get physical sometimes; once Adams broke Darryl’s leg while playing tackle football in Christmas snow. Moreover, Donovan and Dylan also play soccer, whereas Darryl plays American football. People often get amazed when they learn the athletes are brothers, as Tyler’s skin color differs from the rest.
