A significant part of the January 6 committee hearings, specifically the committee’s sixth session, has been played by Cipillone’s remarks and actions during his final days serving as Trump’s WhiteHouse Counsel.

According to testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House employee, Cipollone and Trump addressed the events on January 6. She stated in her testimony that Pat was worried that it would appear they were impeding the Electoral College tally, which would be an injustice to other candidates.

In 1984, he received his diploma from Covington Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political philosophy from Fordham University in 1988, graduating as the top student in his class. He earned his second graduation degree, Juris Doctor, in 1991 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as managing editor of the Chicago Law Review.

He started his career in 1991 when he worked as a law clerk for Judge Danny Boggs of the Sixth Circuit United States Court of Appeals until 1992. Between 1992 and 1993, he was William P. Barr’s assistant.

Before becoming White House Counsel, Cipollone was a consultant at the law firm Kirkland & Ellis and an associate at Stein, Mitchell, Cipollone, Beato & Missner, where he specialized in financial litigation. Sony Pictures, President Donald Trump, and Radio Ingraham LLC were his clients.
