Kate Royal is a lyric soprano from England. Royal was born in London and had his education at Talbot Heath School in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Royal rose to prominence as an understudy for the role of Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2004, when she temporarily replaced the lead soprano.

In December 2010, the couple married, conducted by Ovenden's father, Canon John Ovenden, who also baptized their son in a double ceremony.

She got a recording contract with EMI Classics and released her first CD of songs and arias in September 2007. She devotes five months of the year to song recitals.

Ovenden was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England on November 29, 1976.

He is one of three children of Reverend Canon John Ovenden, a former Queen Elizabeth II chaplain.

As a child, he sung in the St Paul's Cathedral Choir in London. Later, he was awarded a music scholarship to Eton College.

He went on to study music at New College, Oxford, on a choral scholarship. Ovenden is married to opera singer Kate Royal, and they have a son and a daughter.
