Why Is Jason Derusha Leaving WCCO Tv? New Job, Where Is He Going?

Longtime WCCO TV presenter Jason Derusha has bid his goodbye to the channel and its crew.

He is leaving the role of the lead anchor of WCCO This Morning. His last television broadcast took place on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

The anchors'  first report for WCCO-TV was on April Fool's Day in 2003. Since then he has also earned nine Emmys. His food coverage is pretty well known to many of the channel viewers.

The anchor has tweeted mentioning his friends on the channel: I’ve been lucky to sit next to and work with some amazing women over the years: @lizcollin @jamieyuccas @KimJohnsonCFT @KylieBearseWX. Such talent - I’ve learned from them all. Here’s me and Heather when she was an NYC reporter 11 years ago!"

Jason Derusha will be the new afternoon slot with WCCO TV, which means we will not see him as the anchor of WCCO This Morning.

Following this, they announced that Derusha will be their new afternoon drive host.

Previously, we have seen the co-anchoring WCCO This Morning weekdays from 4:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. He also hosted in the mid-mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. DeRusha will now activate the studio microphone on WCCO-AM 830. On weekdays, he will broadcast it from 3-6 p.m.

Derusha has shared an Instagram post stating that his new job will not require an airbrush. He has captioned the post saying"  Last time using the airbrush machine! Final early morning newscast today!"

Before heading into his new job, the anchor has said: “I have always loved the creativity, the unpredictability, and the interactive qualities of radio,”

"I can't wait to bring my love for Minnesota and western Wisconsin, as well as my two decades of curiosity about our neighbors and our news to 830 WCCO. Not many people get to have one dream job, let alone two. I've loved my time in television and can't wait to dive into a new dream job in radio and podcasting.”

Alyssa Bannochie is the beautiful wife of Jason Derusha since September 1998. She is a financial analyst and a Wayzata High graduate. 

The couple share two young sons together, whose names are Seth and Sam.

As of 2022, Derusha has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million USD. His average salary is expected to be higher than $100,000, as a senior anchor.
