\nSophie Kumpen, the ever-young mother of the Belgian-Dutch racing driver Max Verstappen, was a champion go-karter in her heyday.<\/span><\/p>\nSophie is now an interior designer after putting behind her racing days.<\/span><\/p>\nKumpen was a keen racer in her youth; she started go-karting at age ten and finished in the 9th position in the Formula A World Championship when she was 16.<\/span><\/p>\nThe following year Sophie competed in the karting world championship and finished ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella; she also raced against the Red Bull chief Christian Horner in the 1989 Junior Kart World Championship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
