Gilli Apter is a comedian and comedy writer from Johannesburg, South Africa, and is currently involved in Only Jokes Allowed. Only Jokes Allowed is a TV show where six of South Africa’s top comedians take center stage and showcase their talent in this collection of short stand-up sets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gilli Apter<\/a> has been a comic writer on several platforms since 2005. Among her many TV comedy are the SAFTA-winning ZAnews and Those Who Can’t.<\/p>\n

For the past decade, she has also been writing and directing for comic Nik Rabinowitz and several other renowned figures in local humor.<\/p>\n

Gilli began playing on her own in 2015 and has since opened for local legends such as Nik Rabinowitz, Eugene Khoza, and John Vlismas. She performed at Kings & Queens of Comedy at Sun Arena in 2018.<\/p>\n

Gilli’s skill in comedic writing includes script consultation in both long and short form, i.e., consulting on and enhancing commercial scripts.<\/p>\n

She created scripts for comedians for years but didn’t dare to perform stand-up until 2015. She also explained that it is hard for women to be in the male-dominated industry.<\/p>\n
