Omaar was born to Abdullahi and Sahra Omaar in Mogadishu in 1967. His father was an accountant who went on to become a businessman, a Massey Ferguson tractor agent, the founder of Somalia’s first independent newspaper, and the guy who brought Coca-Cola to the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Omaar went to the United Kingdom when he was two years old. He has multiple siblings, including Mohamed Abdullahi Omaar, a former Somali Foreign Minister.<\/p>\n
