He served as one of Donald Marshall Junior’s attorneys during the Royal Commission. Ruby, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963 from York University and a Bachelor of Laws in 1969 from the University of Toronto. In 1973, he graduated with a law master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.<\/p>\n
Ruby defended a plaintiff in a well-known conflict of interest case in 2012 who tried to remove Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. Ruby and the plaintiff were successful. The mayor then appealed. Ford kept her stance once the request was successful on January 25, 2012.<\/p>\n
