Sidonia Ayaa, a single mother, raised Aamito Lagum in Kampala. Her mother moved to Kitgum to live with her grandparents after losing her work.

Lagum later returned to Kampala, where she attended St. Jude Primary School, Katikamu Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School, and St. Lawrence High School.

After winning Africa’s Next Top Model, Lagum came to New York City in the same year and obtained a contract with DNA Models. Within a year, Aamito appeared on the runway for the F/W 2015 season. She has worked for major fashion houses such as Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Giles de Givenchy, J. Mendel, Paul Smith, Bottega Veneta, and Lacoste, to mention a few.

Lagum was also the first model of color to launch a Balenciaga store in Paris. That helped her gain attention. She went on to model for Lanvin, Dries van Noten, H&M, and Hermes.

Hugo Boss, Nordstrom, Acne Studios, Area, Narciso Rodriguez, and Kenzo, to mention a few, have all featured Aamito in their lookbooks.

Aamito has also contributed to the well-known Marc Jacobs advertising campaign. David Sims took pictures of her throughout that period. HEROES Model Management, Uno Models, IMG Paris, Women Management Milan, and M4 Models are currently supervising this gorgeous model.
