On June 23, 1985, Air India flight 182 from Canada to India crashed off the coast of Ireland, killing all 329 aboard, the majority of whom were Canadian nationals visiting family in India. It also ranks as the deadliest aviation event in Air India’s history. 

On the board were 268 Canadian immigrants, 24 Indian citizens, and 27 British when the Boeing 747-237B remnants fell 120 miles southwest of Ireland in the Atlantic ocean.

Ajaib Singh Bagri, a Sikh emigrant, used to be a mill worker who migrated to Canada with a dream of a prosperous future for himself and his family.

Many Sikhs moved to western Canada in the 1970s for better economic possibilities. Bagri maintained Babbar Khalsa’s status as a non-profit organization by forging close relationships with several notable individuals throughout his prolonged stay in Canada.

These included Talwinder Singh Parmar, Ajaib Singh Bagri, Ripudaman Singh Malik, and Inderjit Singh Reyat, who eventually rose to prominence as leaders and Babbar Khalsa members.

Babbar Khalsa or Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) is an association whose primary goal is to establish Khalistan, an independent Sikh republic. Its proponents consider it a form of resistance. Several nations, including India, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Malaysia, and the European Union, have outlawed and designated the organization as a terrorist organization.

1985 Air India Kanishka Bombing Suspect Age, How Old Is Ajaib Singh Bagri?

No reports have been available to date that address the 1985 Air India Kanishka Bombing Suspect, Ajaib Singh Bagri’s age and date of birth.

As a result, his age is still a mystery. However, a recent picture of his Babbar Khalsa, Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was shot dead on July 14, revealed that he must be around fifty to sixty years old. 

Bagri migrated to Canada during his twenties and worked in a mill before joining the Babbar Khalsa organization.

Where Is Ajaib Singh Bagri Living Today?

Although the present whereabouts of the Air India attack suspect, Ajaib Singh Bagri, has not been located, sources say he resides in his house in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

Bagri was also accused of trying to assassinate Tara Singh Hayer in 1988. Tara Singh Hayer was a Canadian Sikh journalist and the editor of the Indo-Canadian Times. She had been a vocal opponent of the suspects in the Kanishka bombing. Hayer was shot and killed in 1998 despite having survived that particular attempt.

His fellow acquaintance and co-defendant Ripudaman Singh Malik, with whom the course accused of planting the bombs on board the plane, was shot dead on July 14, 2022, Thursday, in his residential area in Canada. 

According to officials, the victim was Ripudaman Singh Malik. He and co-defendant Ajaib Singh Bagri were found not guilty of murder and conspiracy in a pair of Air India Bombing on June 23, 1985, and left 331 people dead.
