Chris Chester, the co-plaintiff in Kobe Bryant’s photo trial, will be paid USD 15 million in damages, as per the latest news.

The federal jury reached a verdict on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, following an 11-day trial in Los Angeles. They find LA county guilty of mishandling the photos by invading the victim’s family privacy and causing emotional distress. 

On January 26, 2020, Bryant and his daughter Gigi perished in a terrifying helicopter crash. They were in an S-76B helicopter that crashed after plummeting 2,000 feet per minute. Additionally, seven innocent people died in California on the mountainside.

A year after the terrible incident, investigators looked at the crash’s circumstances, including the pilot’s background, the weather, and the helicopter’s safety equipment. On August 10, 2022, a trial hearing involving the crash images began as Bryant’s widow blamed LA County for mishandling the photos.

Chester has always been on the side of Vanessa Bryant and her family. He is a financial advisor from Orange County who also lost his wife and daughter in the crash. Now, that the court has awarded $31 million in compensation, the co-plaintiff will receive USD 15 million in damages.

The jury has awarded Chris a total of $9 million from the LASD. While the LAFD must give him $6 million. Similarly, the LASD pays Vanessa $10 million, and LAFD will compensate her with an additional $6 million.

Chris acknowledged to the jury that he was concerned the horrible photos captured at the scene of the accident would be seen by the general public. Additionally, he claimed that the pictures had violated his family’s privacy and caused them severe pain.

Chris, who has battled sadness since the accident and occasionally turned to alcohol, agreed to take part in Vanessa’s trial because he wanted to learn the truth. He was quite worried that the graphic photographs were being airdropped by an unknown individual.

Professionally, Chester is a successful Irvine-based financial advisor. He has been earning his living from consulting for the last 25 years.

According to Bloomberg, Chester is serving as the Managing Director for Rimrock Capital Management, LLC. The total assets of his company are $4,008,781,404, as per the Smart Advisor Watch

Chris Chester lived in Orange County with his wife Sarah, 46, and daughter Payton,16. He also has two 18-year-old twin sons.

According to The Mixed Article‘s findings, Payton was a student at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. She played with Kobe’s daughter on the Mamba Sports Academy girls basketball squad. Similarly, Chester’s wife, Sarah was a member of the board of trustees at the St. Margaret’s Episcopal School.

Chester recalled that his daughter was a good basketball player. Additionally, he asserted that he and his wife Sarah made the decision to take Payton to her basketball game while Chester went to his son’s lacrosse tournament during the course of the plane crash weekend.

During the funeral, Chris told Sarah to stay with Payton until they could reunite after he laid them to rest. He further recalled some emotional memories with his daughter and wife.
