Dior Johnson’s mother and grandmother make up his parents. He grew up without his father, and he was 12 when his dad abandoned the family.

According to his mother, Melvina Parker, Johnson is doing well in the tenth grade, with usually Bs as his average grade. She identifies her mother’s passing as the defining moment in his formative years as an individual.

On the other hand, Johnson had a strong relationship with his grandmother, Kay Frances Parker, who passed away in October from pancreatic cancer. When he was five, Kay taught him how to play the game, inspired him to have huge dreams, and attended all of his practices and games.

Parker was concerned that Johnson would be affected negatively by the loss of her grandma. Instead, he chose to look for the positive aspects of his unfortunate circumstance. He has written “Rip Grandma’s” on his Instagram and Twitter bio as a reminder of her grandmother.

Dior Johnson was born on January 28, 2004, in Kingston, New York. The native New Yorker, Johnson, is 18 years of age.

He was just 12 when his father ditched him and his family; after that, Johnson was raised by her single mother, Melvina Parker, with some help from his grandmother Kay Frances Parker.

Unfortunately, his grandma Kay passed away in October 2022 due to pancreatic cancer. People might think she perished from old age, but that is not true. She lost a battle with cancer and eventually lost her life.

His mother was a bit worried that grandma’s demise would affect Dior mentally and his performance, but he took it well and stayed intact like a man. And why would he not? The young athlete has been through a lot since his childhood.

The boy was just twelve when his father left home. And how he coped with that situation only he knows. But as someone once said, everything happens for a reason and good. But not having a father and the agony it lefts is saddening. In 2019 he tweeted, My Dad has never been to ONE of my basketball Games.”, which must be heartbreaking. Even for a reader, it might bring them to tears.

Johnson participated in athletics for a total of ten schools located in five different states during his high school career. He began his high school career by competing in his birthplace of Saugerties, New York, while he was in the seventh and eighth grades.

He is now the youngest player in the history of the New York boys’ basketball state league to score 1,000 points. At age 18, Johnson now plays for Pittsburgh.Panthers in NCAA Division.
