Following her family’s footsteps, the politician attends the Chef Sholom Temple, a Reform Jewish synagogue in Norfolk.
Luria has often stated that her religion has inspired her to speak out on Israel’s impeachment.
In one of her videos to explain her position on impeachment, Luria gripped a Hebrew Bible and recited the oath repeatedly to defend the constitution. She thinks her two identities, military career and Jewish, have informed her increasingly vocal position about the impeachment.
The politician says: ‘I believe that I clearly speak, for all fellow Jewish veterans, that this echoes of language that is used to marginalize and persecute the Jewish people for centuries. The recent accusations of dual loyalty call into question the equal footing of Jewish members in elected office and, by extension, all Jews living in America.’

Elaine Luria Is Married To Husband Robert Blondin
Elaine has a husband named Robert Blondin, who was a retired Navy Commander. Her husband served nearly 27 years in service for the U.S. Navy. Similarly, Elaine has two step-children with Robert and one biological daughter, born in the year 2009.
At present, Elaine and her happy family reside in Norfolk. Her whole family follows the Jewish rituals.

Elaine Luria was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 15, 1975. She is a Democrat.
Luria served over 20 years as a Surface Warfare Officer and nuclear engineer for the U.S. Navy. She met Robert Blondin, her husband, there. Luria served in the Middle East, the Western Pacific, and Japan.
On June 1, 2017, she retired from the Navy and was inspired to help her community and family. She established a business, Mermaid Factory.
Elaine stepped into politics in 2018 and defeated Republican incumbent Scott Taylor. Again, she defeated Taylor in a rematch in 2020 and started her second term as the U.S. representative from Virginia’s 2nd congressional district.
On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Luria will be questioned during a high-profile hearing into the assault on the Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump. The former commander of the Navy was a member of a group of Democrats who were first elected to Congress in 2018 due to a “blue wave” of leftist fury over Trump’s actions while in the White House.
In November, Luria will compete against fellow Navy veteran and state senator Jen Kiggans, a Republican opponent.
