A husband and wife were involved in a cross-country shooting incident in Hillsborough County on the 16th of February, resulting in one death and one hospitalization. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that officers responded to a complaint of gunfire at the I-75 northbound exit ramp that leads to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

When they arrived, they reported seeing a black 2017 Infiniti QX60 that had been pushed off the road and into a ditch by a white 2006 Honda Pilot. At the mall, witnesses saw a guy named Smalls and the victim close to a tree line. A gunshot was heard there, according to the police, shortly after two in the morning.

A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team member discovered Smalls’ body with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was sent to a local hospital in critical condition.
