Mrs Ogilvy said she worked with her father's ultimate demise when she was 15 years old, despite having a seemingly perfect family life. She admitted to struggling with transitioning from a decade of globetrotting with a sports star husband to being a stay-at-home mother.

The hard part was relearning how to do it as well as he did when he was winning a major (the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot), three World Golf Championships, making Presidents Cup teams, and hovering near the top of the World Ranking. In 2009, he peaked at number four.

His first round at the Donald Ross course was uneventful, with four bogeys canceling a pair of birdies. But it's not his motor skills that are holding him back. Ogilvy, a vice-captain for Trevor Immelman at the upcoming Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, said that one of the reasons he returned to the United States was to get acquainted with some of the players.

As luck would have or, more likely, fate would have it, he was paired in the first two rounds with potential International Team competitors Si Woo Kim of South Korea and Mackenzie Hughes of Canada. Ogilvy may have called his round "rubbish," but he wasn't entirely dissatisfied with it. "Everything is there," he said. "As he previously stated, it's just. He needs to flex the right muscle a little more.  He thinks he was better at the end than he was at the beginning. So that's all there is to it."

His competitive options for the future are hazy. Ogilvy had no plans to compete in the PGA Tour season finale, the Wyndham Championship because he didn't want to take a spot away from a player who might be trying to make the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He returned to Australia, but he'll be back for the Presidents Cup and possibly a few fall events.
