Jeff, Lake, and her husband Jeff have been married for a long time, almost 24 years. Since their wedding on September 26, 1998, they have had two children: a son named Leo, born on October 10, 2008, and a girl named Ruby, born on March 30, 2003.

In 1999, Lake moved back to Arizona and started working as an evening anchor for KSAZ-TV (Fox 10 Phoenix). President Barack Obama in 2016 and President Donald Trump in 2020 were both interviewed by Lake while he worked at KSAZ.

After leaving her job as a local TV anchor, Lake spent a few years becoming a well-known pro-Trump politician in Arizona. She disseminated misleading and unsubstantiated information on social media throughout her final years of working in the media, drawing criticism and earning a reputation as a provocateur.

Civility in political discourse doesn’t seem to be a priority in this Arizona election cycle, as evidenced by Kari Lake’s accusations that opponent Katie Hobbs is a coward and Hobbs’ accusations that Lake is a conspiracy theorist.

A fifty-year-old national trend has seen the polarization of American politics. The Pew Research Center reports that since the 1970s, Democrats in Congress have voted more liberally, while Republicans have voted noticeably more conservatively.

In the general election on November 8th, Lake will compete against Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.

On August 2, Hobbs easily secured the Democratic election for governor. Hobbs and her husband have two grown children and reside in Phoenix.

Before being chosen as secretary of state, Hobbs spent eight years as an Arizona legislator and champion for victims of domestic violence. Her job responsibilities include managing the state library, which houses the official history of the Grand Canyon State, as well as regulating elections and business registrations.

Through several initiatives, such as a child tax credit and the elimination of taxes on expensive goods like diapers and baby formula, Hobbs has promised to defend the right to an abortion, increase funding for public education, and make Arizona more accessible for working-class families.
