Jack Sundheim, a long-time senior staffer at a Chicago-area synagogue, has been identified as one of the victims who tragically lost her life at Highland Park’s Fourth of July parade on Monday.

At least six people got killed, and at least 30 others were injured when a shooter on a rooftop opened fire on the procession, sending hundreds of marchers, parents pushing strollers, and kids riding bikes running for their lives in Highland Park.

An hours-long manhunt ended Monday evening with the arrest of a 22-year-old man named Robert Crimo, identified as a person of interest in the shooting, according to the authorities.

He was apprehended following a brief pursuit after being noticed by a North Chicago police officer. According to police chief Lou Jogmen, Crimo was transported to the Highland Park police station.

Jacki Sundheim, a long-time senior staffer at a Chicago-area synagogue, was identified as one of the victims of the Highland Park mass shooting. She was also a teacher at the Gates of Learning Preschool.

Jacki, a member of the congregation who also served on the synagogue’s staff, was among the victims, according to an announcement made on Monday night by North Shore Congregation Israel in neighboring Glencoe.

Jacki Sundheim was the Reform synagogue’s events and b’nei mitzvah coordinator, according to the North Shore Congregation Israel’s website.

The age of Jacki Sundheim, one of the victims of the mass shooting at the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, is between 45 and 55 years old. Jacki’s actual birth date has not been disclosed yet.

Jacki was survived by her husband, Bruce Sundheim. The couple also has a daughter named Leah, a sister named Tracy and a niece named Becca in their family. 

In an email to congregants, the synagogue stated that Jackie had been a longtime member of the NSCI congregation as well as a beloved staff member for many years. We were all affected by Jacki’s work, generosity, and friendliness.

The foreign ministry of Israel claimed to have learned about Jewish casualties of the Highland Park mass shooting. Of its 30,000 inhabitants, at least one-third are Jews, and many of them are Israelis.

Who Were Other Victims Of The Mass Shooting?

Six people tragically lost their lives, and over two dozen of people were left wounded because of the mass shooting at Highland Park.

The six victims, who were taken to a hospital and died there, were adults, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek, who said she didn’t know anything about the sixth victim who died during the parade.

According to Roberto Velasco, Mexico’s director for North American affairs, one of the slain was a citizen of Mexico. He said that two more Mexicans had been hurt.

Nicholas Toledo, 78, a grandpa and father of eight who had recently been to the US to his family after being held away for a few years owing to COVID, was identified by family members as the deceased.
