Justin Crawford And Dad Carl Crawford Age Difference, Phillies Outfielder

“Like father, Like Son,” the 11 division titles champion Philadelphia Phillies picked a wonder kid Justin Crawford in the first round of the MLB 2022 draft.

The prospect at number 14 has all the necessary skills to regularly play in the big league. He pledged his loyalty to Louisiana State University in college.

Crawford is the son of former big leaguer Carl Crawford, who played well for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox throughout his career.

Justin Crawford And Dad Carl Crawford’s Age Difference Is 22 Years

The elevating young baseball talent Justin Crawford was born on January 13, 2004, in Phoenix, Arizona, to his dad Carl Crawford.

Justin is 18 years six months, five days old. While his father, Carl, born on August 5, 1981, in Houston, Texas, will turn 41 this August. The age difference between the past and future of American baseball is a good 22 years of baseball.

At the time of Justin’s birth in 2004, his father Carl was 22 years five months eight days old, and he was playing for Tampa Bay Devil Rays in Major League Baseball (MLB). Carl has two best things to remember about what happened to him that year. First, it’s the birth of his son Justin, and second, he won the Tampa Bay Chapter/BBWAA Devil Rays Most Valuable Player.

Justin is fortunate to have him as his father, a former professional baseball player who knows the game well. Carl has been nothing but a great mentor and assisted Justin with every problem he faced. Moreover, Carl helped him build confidence to nullify all the challenges in his playing career. “Having Carl as a father prepares me for things not everyone can prepare for,” Justin told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Justin Crawford Is Now a Phillies Outfielder

With the 17th overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft, the Philadelphia Phillies picked 18-year-old outfielder Crawford in the first round.

One of the group’s most exciting high school athletes, Justin dazzles scouts with his explosive speed and hit tool. “Power should be the last part of his game to develop, and how much he has in the future will depend on how much strength he can add to his frame.” Baseball America wrote.

Although Justin is not as heavy as his father, he plays similarly. His offensive high school statistics over the past two years are rather outstanding. He scored 27 runs while batting 492 in 18 games in 2021. He played in 42 games in 2022, hitting.503 with five home runs, 52 RBIs, and 60 runs scored on his own.

However, everything looks like a fine wine for now, but there might be an issue. Age may be a problem for any high schooler, mostly because younger athletes are still physically growing. Younger players may also be affected by the game’s mental component due to intense competition and tiresome travel stresses.

Hot Take: Justin Crawford Could ‘Be Better Than His Dad’

Comparing these two bloodlines would be vague because Justin is just beginning to match his father’s legacy. And he has a mountain left to climb.

The Phillies director Brian Barber said, “I don’t like to make comparisons because I don’t think they’re very fair to, obviously, the younger player.”

The skillful young player is easily compared to his father since he shares all of his father’s positive traits. It should be no surprise that Justin Crawford is one of the most athletic members of this crop of prospects for anybody who has seen Carl Crawford play.

The Crawfords are both 6’3″, but the Carl frame carried more weight. They both possess strong power and exceptional bat-to-ball abilities. Their combined speed and fielding skills are also pretty similar. Justin, though, has more incredible promise for speed.
