According to Suffolk County Police, the incident occurred on Sunday at about 2:20 p.m. in Shirley, Long Island. In a statement, Zeldin claimed that his two 16-year-old daughters were inside the house at the time of the incident. The prospective governor had just left Morris Park after the Bronx Columbus Day Parade.

At 2:19 p.m., two 17-year-old guys were shot through the window of a dark-colored SUV while two other adolescents were strolling down Zeldin’s neighborhood. After being shot, the two men tried to hide in the yard of what is assumed to be Zeldin’s home.

The third teen left the scene, the police agency said. Two male 17-year-old victims of non-life-threatening injuries were transferred to a nearby hospital.

Lee’s Family Are Shaken After The Incident

Zeldin recalled that my girls raced upstairs, locked themselves in the bathroom, and dialed 911 when they heard the gunshots and screams. “Diana and I are quite proud because they behaved quickly and shrewdly at every turn.”
