MaLinda Sapp was American. She is the spouse of a singer-songwriter for American gospel music, Marvin Sapp, who made recordings with the band Commissioned in the 1990s before starting his solo career.

Sapp is also the founder and former senior pastor of the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Lighthouse Full Life Center Church. He co-founded the church with his late wife, MaLinda.

However, as of November 17, 2019, he has been appointed senior pastor of The Chosen Vessel in Fort Worth, Texas.

Marvin and MaLinda were married in 1992 and remained married for 18 years until MaLinda died of colon cancer in 2010. Marvin has not married anyone since the demise of his late wife. The gospel artist is renowned for Perfect Peace, which he recorded in 1995.

MaLinda Sapp’s Son And Family Life

MaLinda Sapp had three children with her beloved husband; one son and two daughters. The son’s name is Marvin II Sapp, and the daughters are Mikaila Sapp and Madisson Sapp.

Many individuals adored MaLinda for her contributions to their marriage and ministries. She and her husband were once given the Grand Rapids Symphony’s Celebration of Soul Legacy Award for their contributions to West Michigan’s black community’s growth.

MaLinda served as the executive producer on several of her husband’s albums and records and managed his musical career. She also started the Friends International Christian University affiliate center Rhema Bible Institute. 

MaLinda was endowed with the ability to teach, which she used professionally for many years as a college professor of psychology. She held limited licensure as a professional counselor and was a National Board Certified Counselor.

Along her journey, Lady Dr. MaLinda P. Sapp profoundly impacted many people’s lives. She will be cherished for her virtue, compassion, and modesty.

Marvin Sapp recently announced the Television movie with its premiere on August 21, 2022-  Never Would Have Made It: The Marvin Sapp Story.

The movie is based on Sapp’s childhood in Michigan, his battles with alcoholism as a young man, and his ascent to fame in the evangelical music business. It also shows his wife Malinda Sapp’s valiant but fruitless fight against colon cancer.
