Fletcher was born in Chingford, northeast London. She is the eldest child among her five siblings.

Fletcher is mainly known as an artist for her quirky and eccentric style. She ran a gallery at her house in Norway Lane, which slowly became Commerical. In 1985 she launched Ponckle’s Gallery in Island Square and started painting cats with views of St Ives.

Artist Ponckle Fletcher Died Aged 77
Ponckle Fletcher passed away in the year 2012, at the age of 77 years. She died of pneumonia at the Treliske Hospital in Truro.
In 2004, the artist had a stroke, and despite the health issues, she continued painting at her home.
Every year, Fletcher’s birth anniversary is celebrated on December 31. She is Capricorn as per her astrological sign.

At 17, Ponckle Fletcher met jazz pianist and arranger Ken Moule.
Her husband, Moule, born on June 26, 1925, played piano with the Johnny Dankworth Quartet. He has worked on TV in the BBC’s Secret Army. Moule has recorded a song to honor her, Son of Pickle.

Fletcher was given her signature name, “Ponckle,” by her lover. She eventually switched her name by deed poll and ended up marrying Moule.
Fletcher and Moule got divorced after her constant restlessness. She then moved to Paris and worked as a Katherine Dunham Dance Company stylist.

Ponckle, after he broke up with Ken Moule, met the photographer Trevor Clark. She married him in 1964 and gave birth to her sons, Gavin and Jake. The family moved to Mallorca in 1969, where Trevor started as a travel photographer.
Ponckle and Moule worked alongside each other on many projects. She was his stylist and began making large fabric collage portraits.
After seven years in Spain, she returned to England with Gavin and Jake and divorced Trevor. Although, she kept creating fabric portraits.
In 1974, the artist held a solo exhibition at the Courtauld Institute in London.
