Author Salman Rushdie faced threats to his life due to his novel ‘The Satanic Verses.’ He was attacked on a lecture stage in New York today.

Rushdie was living with years of Islamist death threats from Iran since the 1980s. During a lecture on Friday, August 12, he was attacked and stabbed in the neck. 

According to The Guardian, a reporter for the media had witnessed Rushdie getting confronted at the Chautauqua Institution. The author was punched and stabbed around 15 times before he was introduced. He was rushed to the hospital via a helicopter.

Consequently, the book was prohibited in many countries by the Islamic population.
