David Allen, a former member of the Clarksville City Council, a veteran, and a local preacher, has announced his candidacy for mayor in the November election.
According to him, he is running on an infrastructure-focused platform. He also aims to create, build, and enhance residences in critical locations; improve the city’s safety, cleanliness, and health; and increase economic opportunity by creating jobs, raising wages, and broadening the economic horizon, according to a news release.

Allen will oppose Mayor Joe Pitts, who announced his intention to compete for re-election in February.
It’s possible that other mayoral candidates will emerge: Candidates can begin collecting papers on June 20 and have until August 18 to qualify.

David Allen Arrested For His Wife Paula Allen
Authorities said David Keith Allen, 49, was detained Tuesday night after a Coryell County grand jury handed down an indictment accusing him of capital murder by setting fire to the couple’s double-wide mobile home. Paula Allen, 54, passed away in her home.
A documentary on Investigation Discovery will explore a murder in Central Texas. The documentary will show at 9 p.m. on Thursday as part of the Lies That Bind series.
Paula Allen’s murder, which occurred on March 22, 2011, has finally been covered by Central Texas news. At the time, the 55-year-old was married to David Allen, a preacher in Gatesville.
