Who Is Nicholas John Roske? Armed Man Arrested For Threat To Kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Nicholas John Roske, a California resident, was detained early Wednesday after visiting Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home.

He apparently revealed to authorities that he targeted Kavanaugh because of the leaked draft ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, which upholds abortion rights.

Moreover, He also allegedly expressed his displeasure with recent mass shootings and expressed concern that Kavanaugh would undercut gun control legislation.

Nicholas John Roske, a 26-year-old from Simi Valley, arrived at Kavanaugh’s Maryland house armed with a Glock 17 handgun, a knife, pepper spray, zip ties, a nail punch, a crowbar, and a hammer.

With a bag in hand, Roske exited a taxi in front of Kavanaugh’s home just before 2 a.m. Wednesday and gazed at two U.S. Marshals stationed outside. Roske then turned around, walked down the street, and dialed 911 to declare he was armed and suicidal, according to the complaint.

According to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in federal court in Maryland, he possessed a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, a knife, zip ties, pepper spray, duct tape, and other items that he claimed authorities he would use to get into Kavanaugh’s residence and kill him. It wasn’t immediately known whether he was represented by an attorney.

According to the affidavit, Roske allegedly stated that he bought the gun to kill Kavanaugh and that he would also kill himself. According to NBC Washington, he is 26 years old.

Nicholas John Roske allegedly told investigators that he singled out Kavanaugh because of a leaked draft ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, which upholds the right to abortion. Roske claimed to federal officials that he flew from California to break into Kavanaugh’s home, kill him, and then commit himself, according to the complaint. But as soon as he arrived at the conservative justice’s house, he abandoned the plan.

He was apprehended without incident by the Marshals and taken to the Montgomery County Police Department’s Second District Precinct, where he allegedly confessed to the botched plot.

He appears to have admitted to buying the gun solely for the goal of shooting Kavanaugh. The 26-year-old has been charged with attempting to assassinate a US Supreme Court Justice.

The arrest of Nicholas John Roske comes as the country awaits a Supreme Court decision on federal abortion rights. Concerns of violence following the court’s judgment have led to the provision of round-the-clock protection at the houses of the justices.

He was arrested and escorted to a Montgomery County police station before being taken to federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Roske was apprehended by two US Marshals as he exited the taxi. Roske, on the other hand, was only captured after calling 911 and claiming to be having suicidal thoughts and planning to murder Kavanaugh after finding the justice’s address online. According to the affidavit, Roske was still on the phone when Montgomery County officers arrived on the site.
