Is Sandra Mae Frank Deaf? Husband And Partner Of The New Amsterdam Actress

Sandra Mae Frank became deaf after she was born three months premature.

Although she could hear at birth, her father became aware of her hearing loss when she was three years old. Visits to the doctor came with the diagnosis that Sandra was profoundly deaf.

Sandra studied American Sign Language with her parents. Prior to graduation from the Kentucky School for the Deaf, she attended a regular school. She then went to Gallaudet University to obtain a degree in drama though she had envisioned herself being a teacher.

Frank debuted on Broadway with Spring Awakening alongside another deaf actor, Daniel Durant. With many deaf actors getting roles in mainstream shows, Frank is happy that they are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

She hopes to show the world that they can bring the beauty of deaf culture to a character and stun the world with their acting skills.

Sandra Mae Frank has been dating partner Julian Moiwai for five years. Julian is a deaf photographer.

Sandra did her first commerical gig with her partner, Julian Moiwai, in July 2020. They helped in the promotion of the real-time text feature on Alexa.

Sandra calls Julian her sun, and he calls her his moon. Fans became aware of her relationship after she called him her bae in the caption of the commercial gig.

She first mentioned him on May 9, 2019, though they have known each other since 2017. They became Instagram official in July 2020.

Julian is a first-generation American born to German and Sierra Leonean immigrants. He was born deaf. He is a model, films weddings and acts in commercials and short films.

In 2018, Julian was chosen as one of the eleven winners of the 2018 Chubbies Man Model Search from a group of over 6,000 men.

Sandra Mae Frank is 32 years old and was born on March 1990.

Her parents, William Frank and Kim Frank, raised her in Louisville, Kentucky.

She gets her love for theater and acting from her father, William Frank. William worked in theaters as well.

Sandra Frank is one of three children. She is quite close to her siblings, Jasper Frank and Anne-Marie Frank.

Sandra went to DuPont Manual High School before moving on to the Kentucky School for the Deaf. Because there were no theatrical classes available in Kentucky, she immersed herself in photography and cinema to challenge her creativity.

She went on to Gallaudet University in Washington, the world's only university for deaf people, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Arts.
