She went on to perform with the Fairmount Dance Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was a member of the company and the Head of the Dance Department at Cayahoga Community College after graduation.
Joanne began her acting studies with Sandeed Shurin of the Actors Studio and Mervyn Nelson in New York, where she danced with the Louis Falco Dance Company.
In 1985, she relocated to Los Angeles to study acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory.
