Amy Hardcastle was married to her ex-husband, but they went on separate paths; she is no longer married to her partner.

The rugby league player revealed that she tied the knot and welcomed a child with her ex-partner but didn’t reveal his identity out of privacy; thus, the baby’s father’s name has remained a mystery.

Amy’s baby girl made it safely to the world in 2010, and she marks her birthday on the 13th of December; her astrological sign is Sagittarius. 

Although Hardcastle has opened up about her struggle with postnatal depression and her journey to embrace herself, she has not shared every little detail about her personal life. She has shared only a selected glimpse of her life and insufficient information about her married life.

Amy Hardcastle Is A Proud Mother

Amy is a proud mom who gave birth to her daughter Olivia when she was 21; Olivia is 11 years old and is into cheerleading. 

The athlete became a mother in her early adulthood, so she had to take time away from everything she was involved in committing to her child. She kept aside rugby, her degree at Huddersfield University, and her work as a gym instructor; she then studied Exercise, Physical Activity & Health.

Although the rugby player found motherhood, she struggled with postnatal depression and anxiety; she also had panic attacks for a couple of years. It affected her family and also resulted in her divorce from her ex-husband. 

However, Hardcastle tried therapy but didn’t take medications and healed over time; she returned to university and earned half a degree. She also got back to playing rugby, joined Bradford Bulls, and eventually got on the track. Moreover, she is England’s current top scorer (21 tries in 21 games).

The semi-professional rugby player AJ Boardman is the current partner of Amy. AJ plays for the Rochdale Hornets Rugby League Club.

In a Twitter post, Boardman shared how he has been by the athlete’s side in her ups and downs; he also expressed how proud he is of his lady for all her achievements throughout her career.

Hardcastle has also posted many adorable moments with her partner on her official Twitter account, @hardcastle03, although she has maintained a private Instagram account under @amy.hardcastle.04. Furthermore, the pair always stands by each other’s side and never takes their relationship for granted.

Hardcastle was born to her beloved parents in 1989 in Halifax, United Kingdom; she grew up with her brother William in a village called Copley in West Yorkshire.

The siblings got raised by a single mother, Allison, who sacrificed so much for the sake of her children; she struggled with depression and never had it easy, yet she never gave up.

The athlete’s mom received benefits when she was younger for parenting and did a lot of cleaning jobs, but now she works for the NHS and serves as an assistant practitioner.

The single who once did everything possible to provide for her kids now own a house behind her daughter’s home. Thus, Allison has always been Amy’s role model and is grateful for having the strongest parent in her life. 

Amy grew up playing football and other sports with lads and began playing rugby for the amateur rugby league Siddal while studying at college.

The athlete played her first Test match for England against France when she was 20; however, she took a break from sports after getting pregnant with Olivia when she was 21.

After some time, she made her comeback, joined Bradford Bulls, and experienced considerable success over the decade she played for the Bulls. Later in 2020, the rugby league player joined St Helens and has been with the team ever since. 

Hardcastle, who comes from a working-class background, has worked hard to achieve her dreams. She has also played in the 2013 and 2017 World Cup competitions and became the only English player named to the 2020 National Rugby League women’s team of the decade. 

Amy Hardcastle Worked Two Separate Jobs

Hardcastle is a hard-working woman; aside from playing rugby for St Helens, she did two different jobs until recently, per BBC.

The athlete served as a carer for a woman with dementia. Likewise, she also worked as a healthcare assistant at the Royal Halifax Infirmary in the Accident and Emergency department.

Furthermore, she now works as a community and welfare officer for Rugby League Cares, helping the charity to deliver education about mental health awareness and wellbeing to rugby teams and schools.

However, playing rugby meant taking annual leave, and she shared that life would be simpler if she made money from playing rugby. Moreover, Amy wishes rugby league to get noticed and hopes that the ongoing World Cup will help broaden the popularity of the women’s game.
