Brazilian MMA fighter Charles Oliveira had shortsightedness or myopia, where nearby objects are seen clearly, but the farther things appear unclear. People with the condition will have trouble seeing objects exceeding 25 centimetres.

Oliveira said: “I see three faces. Three guys for me is perfect. If I take my glasses off, I only see 50 per cent but it never hindered me in a fight. I had the surgery, and my eyes are 100 per cent perfect. I can see everything now.”

He continued: “Sometimes I walk in without the glasses, sometimes I walk in with the glasses. It depends on my vibe. Sometimes I like to walk in with the glasses to look harmless and nerdier than I already am. And when I take off my glasses, it’s normal. I can see the opponent on the other side. God blesses me so much that I can see normal. But on the street, if I take it off, I’m blind.”

The former light heavyweight champion will look to claim his belt back after five losing streaks. He believes he will finish Islam Makhachev at the UFC 280 on October 22, 2022, at the Etihad Arena.
