Who Is Christopher Covelli? Highland Park Shooting And Police Spokesperson Statement
At a press briefing, Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli stated that the shooter appeared to have fired on parade spectators from a rooftop using a firearm that was found at the scene.
Police, according to Covelli, believe there was only one shooter, and he should still be treated as dangerous and armed.
Police have not provided any information regarding the victims or injured.

Deputy Chief and Public Information Officer Christopher Covelli stated during a press conference that the shooter reportedly fired on parade spectators from a rooftop using a firearm that was found at the scene. He was unsure about which structure.
In a statement released early on Monday afternoon, Highland Park Police said that five persons had died and 19 others had been brought to hospitals. However, those figures were later changed at the news conference.

A Sun-Times reporter captured video of the scene after shots were fired, showing a band on a float playing while onlookers fled past shouting.
Gina Troiani and her kid were waiting in line to enter the parade route with his daycare class when she heard a loud noise that she initially mistook for fireworks until she heard shouts of a gunman.
Highland Park Shooting And Police Statement
At least six people were killed and another two dozen more were “seriously injured” when a shooter opened fire on the Highland Park Independence Day procession from a rooftop on Monday. Police are still looking for the shooter.
Police in Highland Park characterized the shooter as a Caucasian male between the ages of 18 and 20, with a petite physique, and long black hair. According to Chris O’Neill, Cmd. of Highland Park Police, he is sporting a white or blue T-shirt.

According to investigators, the incident took place at 10:14 a.m. in Highland Park during the city’s Fourth of July parade.
Five of the 26 patients being treated at NorthShore Highland Park Hospital were transferred to NorthShore Evanston Hospital, according to a statement from NorthShore Highland Park Hospital.

When the shooting started, 11 bullets were heard, then there was a pause, and then 23 more shots were fired, according to a video parade attendees posted on social media.
