Montreal Winger: Cole Caufield Parents Paul and Kelly Caufield Often Attend His Games

Cole Caufield was born to his parents, Paul and Kelly Caufield, in Mosinee, Wisconsin, United States.

Paul and Kelly welcomed their son on the 2nd of January 2001, and the 21 years old athlete began skating at the tender age of two. 

He had two incredible people who guided him to become a great athlete from a young age, his dad and brother. Brock Caufield trained with his younger brother and helped him become a successful player in the rink.

Caufield plays in the National Hockey League for Montreal Canadiens as a winger; before the Canadiens picked him in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, he played his college career for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2019 to 2021.

Cole Caufield Have Supportive Parents

Cole Caufield has gotten blessed with very supportive parents who have always encouraged him to strive for the best and never give up.

Caufield’s mom and dad often attend his matches and cheer him from the stands; Kelly and Paul Caufield are the happiest when they watch their son play and help the team gather points. 

Some of the many games they attended are Game 1 of the third round of the NHL playoffs, Game Two of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, and more.

Furthermore, they have always trusted Cole and fulfilled all his wishes. He wanted to play like his 4-year-old brother in the rink while he was a 2-year-old wearing diapers; his parents agreed, and since then, he has been unstoppable.

The athlete played not only in the ice rink but also baseball and football; he learned to shoot left-handed to be a left-handed pitcher in baseball and played football as a running back during primary school.

Kelly is the proud mother of Cole, the one who raised the athlete with unconditional love. 

When he was only two and wanted to skate like his brother, his mom got him a new pair of skates. While his dad and brother were the ones to influence him to pursue hockey, Caufield had constant support from his mother to do his best.

Although momma Caifield hasn’t shared much about her background, she also came from an athletic experience; her father coached high school football at Stevens Point for 25 years. 

Thus, both her son played running backs from grades 3 through 6 under their maternal grandfather’s guidance. Although the siblings didn’t pursue football professionally, the skills they learned were beneficial in the hockey rink.

The athlete learned to take hits and roll after the blow, and his ability to work in tight areas and roll under contact to find space is evident.

Cole Caufield Walked In His Father’s Footsteps

Caufield was born to his father, Paul Caufield, who played for the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (1988–92) and remained the team’s all-time leading scorer.

Paul also served as an assistant coach at UWSP from 2002 to 2006 and became Ice Hawks Arena’s manager, giving his children access to an ice rink and practicing more often.

Furthermore, the elder Caufield was the one who coached him from a young age; he taught his son to shoot from the right since he believed that right shots have an easier angle to access a goaltender’s glove hand.

Without his guidance, the Montreal Canadiens right winger couldn’t have made it to how far he has reached today. He is grateful to have a dad who shaped him into the best fit for the sport he loved from childhood.

The Love For Ice Hockey Started From His Grandfather

Paul wasn’t the first man from the family to play ice hockey; it started with his father, Wayne Caufield.

Wayne played semi-professional hockey from 1963 to 1976 and became a player/coach for the Milwaukee Admirals. Furthermore, Cole’s grandfather is the 2011 Wisconsin Hockey’s Hall of Fame inductee.

The former athlete grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and he would go to an ice rink to skate a couple of blocks from his parents’ house. Furthermore, the Detroit Red Wings prospect spent seven years in the Eastern Hockey League before joining the Admirals program of the United States Hockey League. 

Moreover, the late Caufield coached for over two decades and managed hockey clinics in the Milwaukee area after his retirement; Furthermore, he passed down his passion for the sport to three generations, and many more to go. 

Cole Caufield Has An Older Brother 

Cole has an older brother with whom he grew up playing hockey, Brock Caufield. 

Brock plays for the Wisconsin Badgers men’s ice hockey team; he graduated with a degree in personal finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the spring of 2022 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at UW in sports leadership.

The older Caufield paved the way for his younger brother; he would help Cole become the best player by playing countless games and practicing with him on the ice rink. Furthermore, the siblings are aware of each other’s contribution; they know they would have fallen behind if it wasn’t for the determination and drive to help each other improve.
