Kia and Derwin are not athletes themselves but also come from rich athletic backgrounds, with their parents and siblings being former basketball and football players.
The 26-year-old has been a star player for the Chargers ever since being drafted in 2019, but last night the experienced player seemed to have lost his composure as he was ejected for a vicious hit at Colts receiver Ashton Dulin.
Right after the hit many speculated that Derwin could be suspended but later reports clarified that James won’t be suspended but will face a fine.

The native of Concord, North Carolina, Kiah graduated from Toledo with a degree in media communication and cemented her legacy as a star athlete. Born to parents Kawasak and Atonya, Kiah was raised alongside her two brothers, Darren and Byron.
Her father and her brother, Darren, are former basketball players, having played at Western Carolin and Barton Community College during their university years. In 2020, Toledo Women’s Basketball team posted a tribute video for Kiah on their social media page.
The video was a compilation of Kia’s gameplay during her time at Toledo, followed by sweet short messages from her teammates. Two of her teammates, Soleil and Quinesha Lockett, reflected on their time with Kiah and thanked her for the impact she made at Toledo.
Playing guard position, Kia captained Toledo for two seasons in 2019 and 2018. Before bidding her goodbye in 2020, the North Carolina native etched her name in the history books of Toledo and was an inspiration to many female athletes at Toledo.
Kiah is available on Instagram with the username @kiahhhjae and has 4.5k followers. Though her Instagram handle is private from her Instagram bio, it is clear that she is religious, like her boyfriend, Derwin.
The former basketball player has kept her relationship with the NFL player away from the spotlight, having done only one interview together previously. She is currently a host with For(bes) The Culture and is growing in a different field.

Kiah Jae is not the actual name of the former Toledo Womens Basketball player which she mentioned in an interview with GOAT Farm Media.
Kiah Jae’s real name is “Nakiah Jenah Black” and went by that name until her university days. The interview with GOAT Farm Media was uploaded on September 15, 2021, which gives a sneak peek at Derwin’s family life with Kiah.
In the opening scene of the 11-minute video, Kiah can be sitting alongside Derwin with their son Derwin III as she introduces herself as Nakiah and also states her stage name.
As the camera pans around the house, the viewers can see the family photos hung on the wall, which shows Kiah and Derwin looking lovingly at their newborn baby. Previously in an interview with USA Today in 2021, Derwin mentioned that Kiah helped him remember his football assignments.
The safety also shared that Kiah would go through pop quizzes with him and keep him engaged with his tasks. Being a former athlete, Kiah certainly has various tricks to remember tactics.
In the video with GOAT Farm, Darren also mentioned that Kiah had bought him turntables as a Christmas gift after he showed interest in DJing. The gift came right on time as Darren was about to buy one for himself.
He said that this only showed how much the couple were updated about each other interests and hobbies. The NFL star later showed his car collection and mentioned he bought AMG for Kiah and has a TRX Truck for himself. The video ended with them taking their son to a park.

Kiah and Derwin welcomed their son Derwin III on July 4, 2021. The safety shared the photo of him cradling his son on his Instagram handle as he captioned the post thanking the god and blessing him with a Young King.
The NFL couple has a separate Instagram account for their son, who is nicknamed King Zo. Derwin III has already racked up 656 followers on the photo-sharing platform available on with the username @theking_zo.
As they say, like father like son, little Derwin also loves to wear accessories that go perfectly with his designer clothes. Zo has already taken a trip to SoFi stadium with his mom as he watches his dad play from his seat.
In an interview, the Los Angeles Chargers safety mentioned how much he loves talking walks with his son, having taken his first walk as a dad two weeks after Zoe was born. Earlier this year, the gaming company BabyGiltch sent their products to the James family, especially for little Zo to try out.
With his father being a star player and a huge name in NFL, we are likely to see Derwin III follow the same route as his father and grandfather, Derwin Sr. and continue the family legacy.
