The Gay and LGBTQ activist, Kiyoshi Kuromiya had a wife.

Kiyoshi Kuromiya was born on May 9, 1943, in the WWII Japanese-American internment camp at Hart Mountain, which most Americans strive to forget exists.

Around the age of 10, he came out after being detained in a public park for having been physically involved with an older boy. His career as an activist got off after he enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in 1961.

According to ghanafuo.com, he had a wife and children too. But there is no information on his wife and children. They never come forward and share anything about the activist.

Kuromiya was a third-generation Japanese American who grew up largely attending Caucasian schools in the Los Angeles suburbs, according to a 1997 interview with Marc Stein.

When he was 9 or 10 years old, he was arrested for lewdness in a public park with a 16-year-old boy and sentenced to three days in juvenile jail. However, it was thought that he was a married man, with no information on his spouse.

Today’s (4th June 2022) #GoogleDoodle commemorates Kiyoshi Kuromiya, a civil rights activist who was crucial in the struggles for LGBTQ+ social justice, HIV/AIDS education, and gay liberation, in commemoration of Pride Month.

Kuromiya died of cancer complications at the age of 57 in 2000, while his death was initially attributed to AIDS issues.

In 2010, Kiyoshi Kuromiya launched The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History, a non-profit that facilitated exhibitions on LGBTQ+ history in unconventional spaces. One of his favorite aspects of Pop-Up was learning about local problems, heroes, artists, and organizers in each location.

He was frequently astounded that he had never heard their names before, given their fame, heart, talent, courage, and/or aptitude. Kiyoshi Kuromiya, an AIDS campaigner, black power organizer, writer, Buckminster Fuller’s right-hand man, Scrabble champion, and homosexual rights pioneer, was one of these individuals.

Meet Kiyoshi Kuromiya Sexuality Partner And Children

Kiyoshi Kuromiya claims to have been physically active as a child in California, coming out to his parents as gay at the age of 8 or 9. It’s impossible to tell who he was married to.

However, some articles written about him say he was married with children. Whereas there is no backup or information on whom he married and how many children he had. 

During his freshman year at Penn in 1962, Kuromiya began his activism in earnest by participating in the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) Maryland diner sit-ins.
