Eve Jones Cricket Partner Danni Wyatt Tweet That Got Them In Trouble
In 2013, England batter Wyatt shared a costume-themed Instagram photo with Birmingham Phoenix’s Jones. At the time of the photograph, Wyatt was 22, and Jones was 21.
“Caught the sun yesterday. Caribbean night,” read the description of the photo. The picture was deemed to be “racist and discriminatory conduct,” according to the Cricket Disciplinary Commission.
The CDC continued, “The picture was uploaded to Instagram in 2013 and stayed there until Ms. Wyatt removed it in April 2021 in response to a public complaint to the ECB.
According to Chris Tickle’s decision, the photo was “plainly detrimental to the interests of cricket, brought Ms. Wyatt and the game into disrepute, and contradicted the ECB’s strategic purpose of removing discrimination from the sport.” Tickle said, “Howe and I agree, it is at the lowest end of the range of such occurrences.”
The adjudicator found that “neither the posting of that photo nor the blackface itself included any racist or discriminatory purpose, and that Shanel Daly, the cricketer included in the post, did not take offense at the blackface or the post.”
Eve Jones Cricketing Journey
In 2008, Jones made her county debut when Shropshire played Northamptonshire. Even though her team lost the game, she led her team in scoring 50 points. Before the 2012 season, Jones relocated to Staffordshire. She succeeded at her new club once more, finishing the Championship seasons of 2014, 2015, and 2016 as Staffordshire’s top run-scorer. She accomplished her most excellent List in 2015, 115*, ranking him the second-highest run scorer in the Championship.
Jones relocated to Lancashire in 2017 and played on the team that won the County Championship and Twenty20 Cup that year. Controversies Surrounding Eve Jones And Danni Wyatt
The England and Wales Cricket Broad has punished Danni Wyatt, Jack Brooks, Eve Jones, Azeem Rafiq, and Andrew Gale for previous social media remarks. All five have acknowledged their violations and will not face additional punishment; Rafiq still feels “ashamed and embarrassed” by his Facebook posts.
Both coach Gale and former Yorkshire bowler Rafiq have received criticism for making anti-Semitic comments on Facebook and Twitter, respectively. The accusation against Somerset player Brooks relates to racist comments sent to English cricketer Tymal Mills and former player Stewart Laudat.
“I unequivocally accepted a complaint from the ECB regarding my anti-Semitic social media post from 2011,” he tweeted this summer. I won’t be whining about the CDC’s decision today, I promise.
