During periods of conflict, legends of courage and valor by a personification known as the Ghost of Kyiv have inspired people and helped them get through difficult times.

As Russian rockets burnt over the horizon and military planes prowled the skies above Kyiv, internet murmurs of a lone airborne hero among the Ukrainian resistance began to surface.

His name and background are shrouded in obscurity. He’s known as the ‘Ghost of Kyiv.’

Is The Ghost Of Kyiv Still Alive Or Dead? 

The Ghost of Kyiv is the moniker given to an unsubstantiated MiG-29 Fulcrum pilot who is credited with shooting down six Russian jets during the Kyiv assault on February 24, 2022.

The Ghost of Kyiv is most likely an urban legend, but their existence was credited with providing a significant morale boost to the Ukrainian people.

However, this did not stop former politicians and diplomats from congratulating themselves on their win.

Former President Petro Poroshenko also uploaded a photo of the pilot, claiming that he was the “Ghost of Kyiv.”

Similarly, Mykola Tochytskyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the European Union, tweeted: “One Ukrainian MiG-29 jet fighter pilot earned six wins in a single day in air confrontations with the Russians.” He’s been dubbed the “Ghost of Kyiv.”

What Is Ghost Of Kyiv Kill Count?

The pilot of MiG-29 Fulcrum, aka Ghost Of Kyiv, has been given the name ace too.

An “ace” in aerial warfare is a pilot who has shot down five or more aircraft during battle.

During the first 30 hours of the invasion, the pilot allegedly won six air battles above Kyiv. Two Su-35 planes, two Su-25 planes, a Su-27 plane, and an iG-29 jet are among the six planes reported.

If the ace exists, he or she will be the first recorded fighter ace of the twenty-first century, as well as an Ace in a Day.

Ghost Of Kyiv Real Name Revealed 

So far, the Ghost of Kyiv has been attributed to instilling hope among Ukrainians in the face of the Russian invasion.

The urban legend was most likely not planned, with stories disseminated by ordinary Ukrainians on social media before official Ukrainian media accounts alluded to the pilot in a regular post.

A YouTube user released computer-generated footage of a dogfight and downing involving the Ghost of Kyiv, which was created in the 2013 video game Digital Combat Simulator.

The uploader noted plainly in the description that the film was not real and was only a homage to the Ghost of Kyiv, real or fictional, to continue fighting.
