During a horrifying incident that took place on July 1, 2022, on Friday, Jose Alba, a Bodega employee killed a man with a knife and he is currently being held on a murder charge.
Alba, the owner of a bodega in New York City, was arrested early Saturday morning in connection with a fatal stabbing that police described as self-defense. Read further to unlock the whole story.
What Happened To Jose Alba? The Bodega Store Owner Arrested
Jose Alba is the store owner of Bodega in New York who was recently held on a second-degree murder charger at Rikers Island. The crime he committed was stabbing a customer with a knife leading to the death of the customer.

According to his family member and police, the incident was said to have happened in self-defense. The family of Alba spoke to The New York Post on July 6 where they stated that Jose has never before attacked anybody so viciously and he did so while defending himself.
His daughter, Yulissa, said, “At that time, it was either him or the guy. He has never injured anyone. He has never been involved in a conflict where he had to defend himself.”
Similarly, his 27-year-old son Jeffrey stated, “This is the first time for him. He is not used to this behavior. He is not accustomed to this level of hostility. He was currently running for his life. He has never been arrested or in legal trouble. Though I’m positive he will regret it, I believe at that precise moment he simply lost consciousness and resorted to self-defense.”

The Bodega Murder Story And Charges
According to police, a 37-year-old man was causing havoc inside the Blue Moon Convenience Store on Broadway near 139th Street when the store owner allegedly stabbed him in the chest and back in self-defense.
To detail, Austin Simon, the customer was recorded on surveillance footage rushing behind the counter to confront Alba regarding the cost of some snacks he had in store. When Austin pushes Alba, the argument quickly escalated and became physical. Eventually, Alba grabs a knife and begins stabbing Austin.

The attacked victim was taken to Harlem Hospital by EMS but was pronounced dead. The police arrested the 51-year-old Alba for murder and criminal possession of a weapon. As of now, Alba’s attorney information is not revealed and the investigation is still going on.
It seems like, Jodi had his wife, a son, and a daughter in his family, who all gave their statement supporting the cause of self-defense on why Alba took such a horrific measure in his store.
Similarly, a GoFundMe setup has also been created to support Jose Alba as he was a hard-working businessman in Manhattan. He is described as having been assaulted by a hostile customer for which he defended himself. The fund is for his legal and bail purposes.
