Elly Tumwine served as a military officer for the Ugandan government. Between 1984 and 1987, he was in charge of the National Resistance Army as its leader. He was one of the highest-ranking members of the Ugandan military. He recently issued orders for police to shoot at protesters. Tumwine also ordered the military to kidnap, illegally incarcerate, and bring in opposition members before military tribunals on charges that do not exist based on trumped-up costs.

Because of this, the United States of America decided to impose sanctions on the Ugandan Generals for abusing their human rights. In addition to this, the general also served as a representative for the Uganda People’s Defense Force in the National Assembly of Uganda.

Tumwine lost his fight against cancer-related difficulties and passed away in the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. He had been transported there not too long ago.

Approximately three weeks ago, Tumwine passed out while attending a wedding ceremony. At that moment, he required immediate medical assistance and was sent to a facility in Kampala. Tumwine was transported to Nairobi via helicopter because his condition did not improve.
