Is Karim “Tyson” Zakikhani Still In Jail? 

In June 2018, the jury sentenced Karim “Tyson” Zakikhani to prison for 30 years. At present, he is still in jail, counting his days for parole as he gets eligible only in 2031. 

He remains locked up in Huntsville, Texas, at the O.B. Ellis Unit, after finding him guilty of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury against a family member. 

The officers investigated him after his ex-girlfriend Sarita Anderson filed a case in June 2016. Soon after, the department found out about his deeds of infecting other women as well. 

He was 34 years of age during the period when he faced charges of “aggravated assault for knowingly infecting his girlfriend with HIV.” His then-partner at that time started noticing a substantial weight loss, finding herself being affected by the disease. 

However, Zakikhani first defended himself from his ex-girlfriend’s allegations, stating, “This makes me seem like I’m the worst person in the world. I am not.”

He claimed that he did take an HIV test, but the results were not available, and he also asked for a follow-up but was informed that the doctor would call if there were a problem.

Karim “Tyson” Zakikhani and his ex-girlfriend Sarita Anderson dated for a long time and even shared a son. However, she started noticing her weight drop, only to find out her partner had infected her. 

The ex-couple stopped using the protection in late 2013 after Karim told his then-girlfriend that he tested negative for HIV. 

Later on, Anderson finds out that he had not only transmitted her the deadly disease but was well-aware of his health condition and also was married. 

The court documents confirmed he infected his wife in 2009 with HIV. Also, upon investigation, it got known that he knew about the disease since 2008, after getting diagnosed in March.

Karim “Tyson” Zakikhani pleaded guilty to knowingly giving his ex-partner a deadly disease HIV and was sentenced to 30 years. The court charged him with a first-degree felony of aggravated assault, causing severe bodily injury. 

He will only be eligible for parole after around nine years in 2031. The officers soon escorted him to jail after pleading guilty to the crime in June 2018. 

Anderson then stated that around eight women had stepped forward, claiming he had also infected them with HIV.
