Blues Star Mark Telea Parents, South African Father & Samoan Mother

Mark Telea was born to parents Maleko Telea and Tuala Telea in 1996. The New Zealand rugby player comes from mixed nationality, with his father of South African descent and his mother of Samoan descent.

Mark was born and raised in a household of 24 siblings, including his adopted brothers and sisters. The 25-year-old hails from Leauva’a, a small village in Samoa his native language is Samoan.

Maleko Telea, the father of Mark Telea, served as a pastor and is of South African descent but relocated to New Zealand early on in his life. A well-respected man in his community, Maleko Telea always traveled for his son’s games.

Mark considers himself fortunate that his mother, Tuala Telea, saw him debut for the Kiwis on Monday, as he almost lost her in 2019. The Telea family met with an unfortunate incident three years ago as they lost their older son Jerico Telea.

Mark’s brother Jerico Telea passed away in April 2019 after he was assaulted by a drunkard man who did not face any repercussions. And soon after Jerico’s demise Tuala Telea suffered from heartbreak.

Speaking to Stuff, Mark’s family members stated they were scared about whether Tuala would survive. But fortunately, Tuala pulled through and was able to recover from a huge heartbreak.

But leaving the past behind them, The Telea family now looks forward to Mark making his mark in the New Zealand rugby team. Speaking to the All Blacks Facebook channel, Mark said that whatever he does is for his family.

Mark said that the first person to know about his selection for the team was his father and then his mother and sister. The player also said his father shed joy after hearing the news.

The debutant for All Blacks, Mark Telea, has two sisters. At least, that is what we can say from his Facebook profile. The winger has 24 siblings, and knowing about all of them is certainly not practical.

But in his recent interview, he did mention talking to his sister after his dad and mom after he was called for the debut, and we believe it is his youngest sister, Nevawh Telea, he is talking about. 

1. Neveah Telea

Neveah Telea, age 23, is the youngest sister of Mark Telea. Like her older brother, Neveah completed high school at Massey High School in New Zealand. 

The winger was close to his late brother Jerico, and Neveah was the apple of an eye for both of them. In his interview before the game, Mark said his mother, dad, and sister were overjoyed by his selection and said tears were flowing from their eyes.

2. Anitta Eliza Telea Fuimaono

Anitta Fuimano is the eldest sister of Mark Telea. Anitta was also the one to talk to the media after the demise of her brother Jerico.

In the victim impact statement, Anitta said, “We have a beautiful and loving family. We never mentioned adoption in my family because we see each other as equals.”

She also informed the New Zealand tabloid, Stuff, that their mother suffered from a heart attack shortly after Jerico’s news. But fortunately, she survived. Currently, Anitta is married and has two children- Ruby and Monah.
