Drafted by the Raiders in 2014, Derek has achieved massive success with them but now faces the chop from the team with Josh McDaniels deciding to bench the three-time pro bowl champion.

Derek Carr parents Rodger Carr and Sheryl Carr have been married for 46 years since tying the knot in 1976.
Rodger and Sheryl are devout Christians and have raised their three athlete sons similarly. Rodger believes it was God’s plan for him to meet his wife as the Santa Cruz native happened to meet the Texas girl at Bakersfield.
A multi-sport athlete, Rodger sacrificed his love for football at a young age because of knee injuries. But it didn’t stop him from making a successful career as a basketball player. He was successful enough to get a scholarship to Cal State Bakersfield.
But injuries kept piling on, and he had to quit basketball after a back injury. Later with his older sons Darren and David, Rodger became the quarterback coach for Bakersfield Christian High School.
They were bound to be religious as Derek’s mother, Sheryl Carr, was the musical director at Bakersfield Chruch. The daughter of a pastor, Sheryl instilled a religious mentality in her kids from a young age.
Sheryl is available on Instagram with the username @carrsrus7, and it’s not shocking to see that her social media page is also filled with lovely messages preaching about belief in god.
Not only has Sheryl been a supportive wife and mother but she also makes sure to attend her grandchildren’s games. But currently, along with several Raiders fans, Sheryl isn’t happy with Josh McDaniels benching her son for the rest of the season.
She expressed her despair from her Twitter handle as she retweeted the video of Emmanuel Acho questioning the impudence of Josh McDaniels to bench the veteran.
Derek Carr Father Rodger Carr Is A Football Coach
Derek Carr father Rodger Carr is a quarterback coach at Bakersfield Christian High School.
Rodger was a football player and played quarterback until the eighth grade. After tearing his knee, he was forced into a cast from his ankle to his hip. Derek’s dad changed sports in high school and became a basketball star. He was on the Divison II team at Cal State Bakersfield from 1972-1974.
A man who saw his sons live out his dream of becoming professional football players, Rodger Carr was born and brought up a Raiders fan. So to see Derek being chosen by his lifelong dream team was certainly special for the old man.
When he was interviewed later by the Raiders’ official website, Rodger couldn’t hide his happiness and said how much it meant for his family to become a part of the Raiders nation.
2019 was a special year for Rodger Carr as he and his son Darren led Bakersfield High School to their first state football championship. The proud wife that Sheryl couldn’t help but share the pictures wearing the Ring alongside her husband on her Instagram handle.
Though not a big fan of social media like his kids and wife, Rodger does have an Instagram handle with the username @rodgercarr13 but doesn’t post often. His last post is that of his 44th wedding anniversary on August 14, 2020.
Rodger considers himself blessed that two of his sons got the chance to play as quarterbacks in the NFL. In 2015 both his sons organized Carr Elite Football Camp at SLV High School to honor their father.

Derek Carr was raised in a Christian family who have made it clear God comes before football.
Carr’s family has made Bakersfield their stomping ground, with two NFL quarterbacks coming out from it.
Derek was raised alongside his two brothers, Darren and David, in Bakersfield, California, and later shifted to Texas before returning to Bakersfield for Derek’s senior year.
1. David Carr
Derek’s oldest brother David Carr is a former NFL quarterback of the New York Giants and won the XLVI Super Bowl Champion as a backup for Eli Manning. He is currently an analyst for the NFL network.
David is married to Melody Carr, and the two raised four kids, Austin, Tyler, Gracie and Cooper. In an interview, Melody mentioned that three of her four children were diabetic and also stated that David had recently been diagnosed as well.
2. Darren Carr
Unlike his two brothers, Darren didn’t play football professionally but was a football player at the University of Houston. Before becoming the head coach of Bakersfield Christian High School in 2015, Darren was a defensive coach for seven seasons.
Darren and his wife, Shana Carr, gave birth to three children, with his son Bo being a football player and following in the footsteps of his uncle, Derek and Davis. His daughter Luci is a softball player at Bakersfield.
Derek Carr Married Life
Derek Carr wife Heather Carr is a former cheerleader whom he married in 2012.
The two are parents to four kids, Brooklyn, Deakon, Deker and Dallas. Derek and Heather met during their Fresno State University days when Heather was a cheerleader.
Derek might have great football skills, but his flirting skills were at an all-time low when he met Heather. But he still managed to impress her when they met at a restaurant.
The former cheerleader is available on Instagram with the username @heathercarr4 and regularly updates the fan about her married life and their children. Heather and the kids show their support for Derek by attending games at Allegiant Stadium as they deck out in the Raiders jerseys.
