Luke Altmyer parents Chad Altmyer and Betsy Altmyer are graduates from Mississippi State University. Luke also has two athlete brothers.

American quarterback Luke was born on October 22, 2002. He comes from a family of athletes and has continued their legacy as a footballer for Ole Miss Athletics. Last year, Altmyer received the Chancellor’s Honor Roll for the spring season.

Altmyer’s family played sports while studying at the University, including his father and mother.

Chad and Betsy tied the knot in the year 1999. They fell in love while studying at the College.

As stated on the QB Country, the Alymyers knew Luke was exceptional from a young age. At 7, their son had already set the city record for touchdown passes in a youth league season.

Since Luke’s dad was an athlete, he helped the QB excel in his football career. During his sophomore year, Luke was introduced to Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead and David Morris at QB Country. This helped the young footballer to skyrocket his career.

When Luke’s mom and dad saw their son succeed, they typically experienced three waves of emotion. Fear was the first thing they experienced. Secondly, they were surprised, and the feeling of “duh” came as their third experience.

Luke’s Father Chad Altmyer Is A Doctor

Chad Altmyer has been an orthopedic surgeon at Mississippi State University since 2004.

Luke’s father went to Greenville College. He played baseball and basketball at Mississippi college.

According to Chad’s profile, he has been treating student-athletes for the last 20 years. He cures athletes with cuff tears, ACL tears, broken wrists, or sprained ankles. Chad has also earned the Campbell Clinic fellowship and is a biology graduate and a chemistry minor. 

Dr. Chad is now a member of the Mississippi College Board of Trustees. He enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and patients when he is not treating patients. He seeks opportunities to share the great outdoors with his family as an avid hunter and fisherman. 

Besides his dad, Luke is also very close to his maternal uncle, Ben Boykin, a former Ole Miss alum.

Luke’s maternal grandfather, Don Boykin, was an Ole Miss graduate and lawyer in the Jacksonville area. He is the brother of the legendary Arnold “Showboat” Boykin. Don passed away on August 24, 2020, just before his grandson de-committed from Florida State, and Showboat passed away two years before Don.

Betsy Altmyer Was A Mississippi College Graduate

Betsy Altmyer is a former graduate student of Mississippi State University along with her husband.

Luke’s mother won three national cheerleading championships at the College. She studied Psychology in college and previously worked as an Independent Individual and Family Services Professional.

Betsy actively shares photos on her Facebook profile. She is also on Twitter with the handle @BAltmyer. Her bio says she is a mom of three boys, Steele, Luke, and Whit. She has also noted that she’s been married to Chad for twenty-three years.

The proud mother of three has spoken of her family’s athletic heritage. She said: “I think it’s ironic how things have worked out (for her sons). It is God’s will, and that’s how we live our lives.”

Most of Betsy’s tweets are related to her son’s athletic career. Her older son, Steele, played basketball at Mississippi College. 

Before the college, Steele played for head coach Russ Whiteside at Heritage Academy. He was named the MVP of the Hotbed Classic and the MAIS Overall All-Tournament Team during school days.

On December 17, 2020, Luke shared a photo of his family while he received a farewell from Starkville High School.
