Gun violence in America has become a major issue in the country. Even known rappers and celebrities get wrapped up in such crimes sometimes.
A similar thing happened to rapper 21 years old Lil Tjay, aka Tione Merritt, this week. The ‘Run it up’ singer nearly lost his life after a midnight shooting spree.
Who is Mohamed Konate?
Mohamed Konate is the alleged shooter of Lil Tjay.
According to surfacing reports, Rapper Tjay, along with his two friends, was shot at a shopping center in Edgewater. The incident occurred just past Wednesday midnight.
During the initial investigation, the Bergen County officials concluded the crime could be a case of attempted theft. Similarly, they also arrested the suspected criminal shortly after.

Mohamed Konate is the 27-year-old age man of the main suspect.
Born on April 13, 1995, Konate is a resident of 75 La Salle Street, Apt. 20A in New York. The legal documents show he is unmarried and single during the time of the arrest.
He is now facing different charges, including attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons offenses.
Lil Tjay Shot During Attempted Robbery
Apparently, Konate shot Lil Tjay multiple times during the Wednesday incident.
The officials later revealed that one victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Luckily, the condition was later announced stable. Likewise, other victims were kept in hospital for minor injuries.
Besides Mohamed, Jeffrey Valdez and Antoine Boyd were also arrested at the scene. The latter two, who are friends were Lil Tjay, were found in possession of unlawful weapons.
But, Konate definitely faces the highest charges. He faces first-degree attempted murder and three counts of first-degree armed robbery. Likewise, he has also been charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
He was taken into custody by detectives for further interrogation. The case is currently pending in New Jersey.

The public went wild soon after the shooting news came out. Especially, Lil Tjay’s fans were heavily distraught by the situation.
One Twitter user named Goldberg wrote, “can’t believe they got to Lil Tjay. I was listening to him before hearing too, so it shifts a mood”.

Lil Tjay Wikipedia states the rapper is a native of Bronx, New York. It is estimated that Lil Tjay’s net worth is around $600 million USD. Similarly, he rose into prominence with songs like Calling My Phone, In My Head, and Pop Out.
The rapper has already gone under surgery to treat his wounds. We hope that he will recover very soon.
However, the officials have not released any legitimate photo of Mohamed Kante. Mohamed will remain innocent until proven guilty.
