Morten used to sing for the Souldier Blue in Oslo before joining the band A-ha in 1982. A-ha has recorded ten studio albums and topped international charts since their breakout song “Take On Me” in 1985. Besides, Morten has six solo albums to his name.

In the final half of May 2022, Morten, with his band A-ha, was supposed to perform a show in Oslo Spektrum. The fans were ecstatic, and the show was nearly sold out. But at the last moment, the show was pulled out and delayed. 

Morten Harket Illness: What’s Wrong With Norwegian Vocalist?

According to the announcement on the Oslo Spektrum website, due to Morten Harket’s illness, the show has to be postponed.

Some of his fans are visibly discomforted and anxious as they were excited to see Morten perform after two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. Later, it was announced that Morten Harket had been diagnosed with acute laryngitis. It is a short-term condition associated with the larynx’s inflammation and probably affects the vocal cord. 

However, they did conduct the first-day show with a slight inconvenience, and the shaky voice of Morten can be clearly felt. The vocalist was having some trouble. However, the next day, the band published a statement announcing that the second A-ha show in Oslo had been rescheduled.

Morten went to his Instagram and made an apology, and expressed his deep regret to his fans. He says that due to the inflammation of his vocal cords, he might not be able to perform and needs to rest his voice. While some fans were understandably disappointed, most commented with warm and get-well-soon wishes for him.

A fan wrote, “How can anyone be mad at you? You’re so cute to apologize when it’s not even your fault. Get well soon ?”. 

What Happened To Morten Harket Health?

The 62-year-old Norwegian vocalist Morten Harket has a health issue and is suffering from acute laryngitis.

Acute laryngitis is a common condition among vocalists because the excessive use of the vocal cord tends to have some issues later on in their life when they grow old. Morten is 62 now; as a result, the symptoms of growing age will slowly be seen one by one.

After he suffered from the disease, the band had to postpone and even cancel most of their remaining shows. A-ha had been propelled to withdraw their UK shows at The SSE Arena, Wembley, London on May 27th and Birmingham Utilita Arena on May 28th.

“The band is very devastated that we have had to cancel our gigs in the UK – our second home – this week owing to ongoing sickness,” the band made a statement on their official website.

Morten Harket Family And Ethnicity: Who Are His Parents?

The vocalist was born on September 14, 1959, in Kongsberg, Norway, to Reidar Harket and Henny Harket.

His father, Reidar, has served as a chief physician at a local hospital in his town, and his mother, Henny, was an economics teacher. Furthermore, Morten belonged to the Norwegian ethnicity. However, he was raised in Asker, the southern city of Norway, in a family of seven.

Morten has four brothers, namely Håkon, Gunvald, Ingunn, and Kjetil Harket. Other than their identity, he has not revealed any further information about his siblings. Thus, their current whereabouts and profession are not known.
