The lawyer revealed her reason to defend terrorist is that even those who are labeled as terrorists are regular people, who fall off the rails at some time.
Ms. Ronen and her client were at the center of a trial that will reenact the tragedy of the 2015 incident over the next eight months.
Survivors were outraged by Mr. Abdeslam’s first comments in court: after declaring himself as a “soldier for Islamic State,” he accused prison authorities of treating him and fellow convicts “like dogs.” It will undoubtedly be as tough for survivors to face and listen to the leading suspect as it will be for Ms. Ronen to defend him as the trial progresses.
