On 20 July 2022, California resident Raul Carbajal, age 50, was arrested for keeping his puppy taped up in a closed car outside a casino for close to two hours in 113-degree heat. The police arrested him for the “willful, malicious torture of an animal.”

Raul Carbajalof of Corona Del Mar, California, was arrested for allegations of animal abuse in the parking lot of the Bellagio, a well-known casino and resort on the Las Vegas Strip, on 20 July, at around 3:20 p.m. He reportedly played casino games as his dog was restrained with mouth tape in his locked car outside in the triple digits of heat.
A piece of electrical tape was used to seal the puppy’s mouth when it was discovered in Carbajal’s vehicle, according to KVVU-TV. The puppy was a 3-month-old Siberian husky. According to the TV station, which cited an arrest record, Carbajal was parking the automobile on security tape at about 1:15 p.m. that day and entering the casino to gamble.

Security personnel at the casino witnessed the puppy inside the closed car on the highest parking garage level, which has no shade and is in the glaring sunshine. They immediately called the police stating animal distress. According to the police, that day’s high temperature was 113 degrees. The police report says that the temperature inside the car was around 108 degrees.
The authorities evacuated the dog from the car through its sunroof. Even until the rescue, Carbajal was enjoying his time in the casino. According to the casino’s CCTV footage, Carbajal was gambling for nearly an hour before heading back to his car. Immediately after his return, officers interrogated Carbajal and took him into custody.

Various reputed media portals have reported Raul Carbajal to be 50 years old. However, his personal life being a private one, nothing has been disclosed yet.
It could be because of guilt or otherwise; Carbajal didn’t ask whether his dog was alright throughout the arrest. He didn’t even reply to any of the police’s inquiries, as is evident in the viral video. After hauling Carbajal into custody, putting him in handcuffs, and buckling him into the rear seat of a Metro SUV, a Metropolitan Police Department officer told him that he was getting arrested on a felony of reckless endangerment of an animal. But, he showed no response.
Regardless, his family must be in profound grief since Carbajal got arrested. And possibly the family won’t get to keep the dog.

Little is known about the charges against Raul Carbajal. Indeed, he got arrested on charges of animal abuse, but the punitive decisions against him are yet to be revealed.

A preliminary case hearing is scheduled for 25 October in Las Vegas Justice Court. Before that, Carbajal was given a public defender on 26 July 2022. The court records show that his bail is set at $5,000.
