Before getting engaged, Burruss and Cruse dated for many years. They fell fall each other while working under the same roof.
They met while working at KMIZ-TV in the year 2015. Back then, Burruss was filling the Morning Reporter and Fill-In Anchor position.

Sherree covered the University of Missouri Tigers for KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She covered the Tigers' participation in the 2014 Cotton Bowl and 2015 Citrus Bowl SEC championship football games.
On the other hand, David served as a Chief news and sports photographer. Their casual friendship eventually turned to love, but when Sherree moved to Atlanta, they worked out in a long-distance relationship.
On June 27, 2016, Cruse finally proposed to her with a diamond ring, a memory they have exchanged on social media numerous times. Before their marriage, the couple went to Chicago to spend quality vacation time.

In June 2018, the couple turned their love story into a fairytale wedding. During their wedding night, Washington Capitals were victorious.
Sherree also tweeted on June 3, 2019, that she was celebrating their one-year wedding ceremony and sent him an airplane ticket to STL.
