On January 22, 2018, the police began looking for Jed’s cell phone once his disappearance was confirmed. At 6.48 am, his phone looked to have shut off or died. His phone’s last known position was near the Snake River and Interstate 20.

Although there is a clue that Jed and his car may have entered the river, the pair are not discovered after at least three sonar and underwater searches.

The phone’s most recent “pinged” location was visible. Highway 20, the Snake River, and Interstate 15 are close to the Verizon tower, which is situated at 1490 Lindsey Boulevard and is 43 miles southeast of that location.

The Idaho Falls Police Department has looked into numerous leads and theories regarding this case over the past four years, including the notion that Jed might still be alive or have passed away somewhere else.

To find further information, investigators have investigated distant sections of the area, gone to other states in response to tips and reported possible sightings, and taken part in several local and national media outreach initiatives.

Are the Remains Discovered In The car Those of Jed Halls?

The car Jed left his house was found in the Snake River in Idaho Falls on Sunday, May 1, 2022, thanks to Adventures with Purpose, a specialized underwater sonar search and recovery dive team, and the Idaho Falls Police Department.

From the car, human remains were discovered. Those remains were conclusively identified as Jed Hall’s on May 4, 2022. Early on, IFPD detectives also suspected that Jed and his car might have driven into the Snake River.

With assistance from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, at least three searches were carried out for this case. In addition to using equipment from affiliated agencies, the crew also used sonar for underwater searches.

Jed declared his intention to commit himself in a note he left behind. Even if it’s probable that he did, neither Jed’s body nor his car have been located. Jed left with a variety of camping and survival supplies. The detectives think Jed might still be alive.

It was Jed’s 18th birthday in October of last year. Jed remains a missing person even though he is no longer a minor. Whatever the circumstances, IFPD works to uncover the truth about what happened to Jed Hall to give his family and loved ones the answers they so desperately want.

Numerous tips and potential leads regarding what happened to the teen or, if he is alive, where he might be, have been looked into by the Idaho Falls Police Department. The National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) database is one of the national databases where Jed’s information has been entered.

Any law enforcement or public service agency that ran his information via one of these databases would be notified that Jed is missing and should get in touch with IFPD. A database check is immediately performed every time a law enforcement agency searches for a name, VIN, or license plate.
