Obituary – Ramon Nieves as Puerto Rican Politician
A native of San Juan, Ramon Nieves grew up with his family in Toa Baja. He attended the Colegio San Antonio and graduated from the school in 1993.
Nieves then enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social sciences. Within three years, he completed his undergrad education.
He then decided to expand his knowledge of the law. He studied at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and got his Juris Doctor degree in 2000. The same year he passed the country’s bar exam.
After graduation, he started practicing as an attorney in contractual and commercial affairs. Similarly, he joined the Puerto Rico Bar Association in 2001.

In 2004, he was appointed as vice-president of R&G Financial Corporation. In 2010, he returned to work at his private law firm.
Besides, he also used his knowledge and expertise for a social cause. He was heavily associated with the Board of Directors of the Community Legal Office in San Juan, providing legal advice to underprivileged communities for free.
