A soviet ballet instructor, Viktor Kabaniaev, reportedly abused young girls during the practice. Sources said that the girls he molested were not adults and were forced to keep their mouths shut.
Better late than never, a victim, Katie Wee, broke the silence about the ballet coach. She had previously recorded his activities, and after a few years, Wee decided to open up about the sexual violence. As a result, Kabaniaev was arrested in 2018 and tried for multiple molestation cases.
After a chain of events, including a mistrial, the abuser took a plea deal in 2021.

Viktor Kabaniaev is currently serving his sentence in jail.
Moreover, he was arrested in January 2018 and charged with 14 counts involving sex crimes against minors. Three of his former students testified in court and accused him of sexually molesting them.
One woman said he raped her for the first time when she was only 12 years old and forced her to have sex with him dozens of times after that. The other two accused Kabaniaev of molesting them.
Unfortunately, his first trial was a mistrial because of the hung jury. The jury remained static for around 20 months. The judge then decided to continue with a new jury.
But Kabaniaev finally accepted the plea deal and was sentenced to 20 years. He has just served around a year until now.

Katie Wee And The Others: Who Were The Victims?
Three women reportedly came out publicly with accusations against Kabaniaev.
One of them was Katie Wee, one of the leading figures in the case. She has given several interviews on how she got the courage to finally stand up to someone who took advantage of her innocence.
“I absolutely do want to be known as someone who put my abuser in prison and who kept him from abusing other children,” she said in an interview after her abuser’s conviction.
“Sexual abuse gives the victim a tremendous amount of shame. As you get older, you start to realize that it isn’t my fault and the shame is not mine to carry,” Wee told San Francisco Chronicle.

Viktor Kabaniaev was a high-profile ballet coach in the East Bay Area.
Furthermore, he is of Russian ethnicity and had been teaching ballet for decades before making a name as one of the best ballet instructors in the area. However, his behavior with his students on a personal level. led to his downfall.
